NBC Chicago Visits Lake Forest Academy

Our first two EKG screenings of the school year were a huge success. It is a team effort to run each screening and we appreciate our dedicated core group of volunteers, parents and the community for continuing to embrace our work. We couldn’t do it without your support. We also want to thank Holly and her mother for stopping by the Lake Forest Academy screening to share their story with NBC Chicago.

Holly participated in the Foundation’s EKG screening at her high school as a freshman and found out she had a hidden cardiac condition known as Long QT Syndrome. The condition can cause chaotic, rapid heartbeats that can possibly lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death if untreated. Follow-up testing at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital confirmed that her father had Long QT too.

To hear more of Holly’s story and how the Foundation’s work is making a difference in the community, watch the NBC Chicago story.
